A path toward college and careers.

Obortis et Tdio

At Modesto Christian School we develop Christ-centered leaders through individual and personalized pathways while balancing exploration and invention in Academics, Athletics, and the Arts.

Preschool Curriculum

Preschool Curriculum

Our preschool consists of four classrooms, two 3 year old classes and two 4 year old classes. In addition, there are two bathrooms with two child-size toilets and a sink that is child height per bathroom.

Bible

The Bible lessons teach that there is one true living God and there are three parts to the one God: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. We center on God the Son, Jesus, is our Lord and Savior. Children memorize monthly Scripture verses through song and Bible stories from the Old and New Testament. We use worship songs, picture charts, the Bible, and other aides in our instruction.

Circle Time

Children learn to develop their attention span and participate in a group setting called circle time. Activities include opening and closing routines, worship and prayer, calendar, share time, stories, finger plays, songs, and various unit-related events.

Non-Structured Learning

We encourage small motor development through manipulative materials such as blocks, puzzles, learning games, toys and art activities (cutting, gluing, coloring, painting, printing, play dough, etc.). There are many "tray projects" which are self-guided sensory activities that teach sorting (by size, color, same, different), scooping, pouring, matching, dressing, etc.

Outside Play

We encourage large motor development through active participation in such activities as painting, digging, climbing, swinging, balancing, using toys, catching and throwing playground balls. Specific motor skill activities are practiced weekly.

Themes

The month's themes and week's activities are prepared units and are summarized in the monthly preschool calendars.

Alphabet

Zoo Phonics is used to introduce the name and sound of the letters of the alphabet. In addition, we present alphabet letter activities to help in teaching the sound, name and formation of the letter of the week.

Field Trips

Students participate in two off campus field trips during the school year; one in the fall (Pumpkin Patch) and one in the spring (zoo visit). In addition to off campus field trips we will host a few on campus field trips, as well. Preschool parent assistance is essential in providing supervision and transportation.
